Eurowings Launches Own Tour Operator, Eurowings Holidays, in April 2025

Destinations & Tourism

Eurowings is expanding its business with the launch of Eurowings Holidays, a new tour operator that will officially begin operations on April 1, 2025. The new company, part of the Lufthansa Group, will offer customized holiday packages, including flights, hotel accommodations, and transfers, providing a convenient one-stop solution for travelers.

A Strategic Move in the Growing Tourism Sector

Eurowings Holidays GmbH is taking over the staff and IT systems from Karlheinz Kögel, the media and tourism entrepreneur behind the HLX Group, to quickly leverage his expertise. In the initial phase, around 100 tourism experts will work for the new venture, with more than 50 employees coming from Kögel's Binoli GmbH, a subsidiary of the HLX Group.

Karlheinz Kögel is known for pioneering the dynamic tour operator model, which offers more individualized holiday options compared to traditional package tours. As the founder of L'Tur, he helped popularize last-minute travel in the market, and since 2020, he has built up the Eurowings Holidays brand into a major player in the German tourism industry.

Flexible and Tailored Holidays for Millions of Customers

The new operator will cater to over 20 million customers, mainly those who have previously booked flights with Eurowings. Eurowings Holidays will provide flexible travel packages, including hotel stays and airport transfers, with low deposits and free rebooking options. The ability to cancel for a reasonable price will offer customers maximum flexibility when planning their holidays.

Data-Driven Growth and Technological Integration

The success of Eurowings Holidays will be supported by Eurowings Digital GmbH, a subsidiary specializing in e-commerce, data science, and artificial intelligence (AI). This team of nearly 300 digital experts will help the company evolve into a more data-driven business model, contributing to its long-term growth and innovation.

Eurowings' Growth in the Tourism Market

With CEO Jens Bischof at the helm, Eurowings has successfully shifted from a business travel airline to a leading holiday airline. The company operates from major sunny destinations like Mallorca, offering over 400 weekly connections from Palma to 26 airports during peak season. Eurowings is also a dominant market leader in cities like Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, and Stuttgart.

Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings, shared:
“By combining our position in holiday flights with expertise in package tours and digital solutions, we are reinforcing our business model and transforming into a major player in the growing tourism market. Our brand recognition will position Eurowings Holidays among the top ten German tour operators in the near future.”

A Successful Transition

Karlheinz Kögel acknowledged the success of the Eurowings Holidays brand:
“It fills me with pride to see our dynamic tour operator business turned into a success story. I thank our excellent team for their hard work and am excited about the future of Eurowings Holidays.”

With this new venture, Eurowings strengthens its presence in the tourism market, providing customers with a seamless travel experience and expanding its offerings in the ever-growing holiday sector.
