Scandinavian Airlines Expands Summer 2025 Schedule with New Routes and Increased Capacity

Airlines & Airports

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has unveiled its largest-ever summer 2025 traffic program, marking a significant step in expanding its network and reinforcing Copenhagen Airport as a global hub. The airline will operate 278 routes, providing 23 million seats, an increase of 2.2 million compared to the previous year. This expansion solidifies SAS’ role as the leading airline connecting Northern Europe to destinations across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

New Routes and Expanded Frequencies

For summer 2025, SAS is launching several new intercontinental and European routes to meet increasing demand for travel. These include:

  • Copenhagen to Seoul: Four weekly flights starting 12 September 2025.

  • Copenhagen to Seattle: Five weekly flights starting 21 May 2025.

  • Copenhagen to Beirut: Three weekly flights from 6 June 2025.

  • Stockholm to Reykjavík and Bodø: New direct flights with more options for travelers to Northern Europe.

Additionally, SAS is expanding its European services, including Krakow, Lyon, Madrid, and Budapest. The airline also plans to introduce new routes from Copenhagen to destinations like Nuuk (Greenland), Wroclaw, and Malta.

Strengthened Connectivity at Copenhagen Airport

The expanded summer program strengthens Copenhagen Airport as a hub for seamless international travel. It facilitates efficient connections for passengers traveling across the region or to and from destinations worldwide. With more than 120 destinations served from Copenhagen, SAS continues to improve its connectivity, enhancing travel options for both business and leisure customers.

Domestic Expansion in Sweden

SAS has also made significant investments in its domestic network in Sweden, with a 54% increase in domestic flights. This includes new routes from Halmstad and Kalmar, enhancing domestic connectivity and giving passengers more options for travel within Sweden.

Henrik Winell, Vice President of Network at SAS, commented, “This summer program represents an important milestone for SAS as we introduce 28 new routes and significantly increase capacity to 23 million seats. Our expanded network provides unparalleled access to destinations across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, while further solidifying Copenhagen as a world-class travel hub.”

Increased Frequencies and Flight Options

SAS is also increasing the frequency of several popular routes, including daily flights to New York (JFK) from Oslo, as well as weekly services to Rhodes from Oslo and Bergen. Other key route enhancements include additional flights to Toronto, Berlin, Florence, and Prague, providing passengers with even more opportunities to connect across the 122 destinations served from Copenhagen.
