iGA Istanbul Airport receives high scores in CDP's 2023 Climate Change and Water Security Programs, showcasing its commitment to environmental sustainability and adherence to global sustainability goals.

iGA Istanbul Airport has once again demonstrated its dedication to environmental sustainability by participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)'s Climate Change and Water Security Programs. Embracing the sustainability motto "Our Focus is the World, Our Goal is the Future," the airport has been transparent about its environmental governance activities and has received impressive scores for its efforts, securing an A- in the Climate Change program and a B in the Water Security Program.

The airport's commitment to transparency and its proactive measures against the global climate crisis have been consistently communicated to the public through its participation in the CDP, the world's largest sustainability rating platform. In line with its Net Zero roadmap, iGA Istanbul Airport has surpassed its 2023 emissions reduction target, achieving a 26% reduction compared to the base year 2019, and 14% less than the target set for the year. Furthermore, the airport made significant strides in water conservation and waste management, with 30% of its water consumption sourced from recycled water and 35% of waste generated being recycled.

Selahattin Bilgen, Acting CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, highlighted the airport's alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and its commitment to leaving a better world for future generations. The airport's "WE RESPECT" program embodies this commitment by integrating sustainability strategies, actions, and social investments into its operations. iGA Istanbul Airport aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 45% by 2030 and 73% by 2040, focusing on carbon-neutral technologies and sustainable fuels, alongside energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives to tackle Scope 3 emissions.

CDP CEO Sherry Madera commended the airport's efforts, noting the importance of sustainability reporting as a crucial element for long-term business success. She emphasized that the participation of over 23,000 companies in CDP's reporting process is a testament to the growing commitment to sustainability worldwide. iGA Istanbul Airport's achievements reflect its ongoing contributions to a greener future.
