Lufthansa Enhances Business Class Dining with New Meals on Short and Medium-Haul Flights

Starting February 26, Lufthansa passengers traveling in Business Class on short and medium-haul flights will be treated to a new catering concept that offers a greater variety of hot and cold dishes. This new selection, developed in collaboration with celebrity chef Johann Lafer, Lufthansa's culinary teams, and catering partner Gate Gourmet, combines regional cuisine with European influences, featuring high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Expanded Menu Options and Pre-Select for Hot Meals
The new concept brings more choice for passengers on flights of around two hours, offering a wider range of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cold dishes. For flights of three hours or more, travelers will now have the option to choose from three hot dishes instead of just two.
Lufthansa is also introducing the Pre-Select option, allowing passengers to pre-order from a selection of up to nine hot dishes for flights over two hours. This free service enables travelers to choose their meal before departure, ensuring a more personalized experience and reducing food waste through optimized meal planning.
Focus on Regional Ingredients and Sustainability
With an emphasis on regional origin and sustainability, the new meals are crafted using carefully selected European products. The local and seasonal ingredients reflect Lufthansa’s commitment to high-quality, sustainable dining options for its passengers.
Caroline Drischel, Senior Vice President of Customer Journey Lufthansa Group, stated:
“The introduction of ‘Pre-Select’ on Lufthansa's short and medium-haul routes underscores our commitment to providing guests with a high-quality and consistent travel experience. This service is already offered by SWISS and will soon be extended to Austrian Airlines.”Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer at Lufthansa Airlines, added:
“By focusing on regional ingredients and sustainability, we have created a menu that not only offers variety and quality but also helps reduce food waste. Lufthansa passengers can look forward to a delicious and eco-friendly dining experience.”
This update marks a significant step in Lufthansa's ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experiences while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and regional flavors.
