Luxury carriages for Belmond Grand Hibernian

Rail News

The 20 luxury cabins of Belmond Grand Hibernian are to be produced and delivered until August 2016 in Belfast, Northern Ireland

Belmond is the owner company of the world’s most famous luxury trains: the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Belmond Royal Scotsman.

For this particular project, 40 talented specialists from Mivan Marine were chosen to mix cutting edge technology with traditional skills and build another luxury piece of art, the Grand Hiberian.

“We chose to work with Mivan not only for their extensive experience but they have also shared our passion and vision for Belmond Grand Hibernian from the outset - it is very important to Belmond that we work with local experts and craftsman to create a truly authentic train that reflects the spirit of the countries through which it will travel,” declared Gary Franklin, the managing director of Belmond Trains & Cruises.

The interior design of the carriages is designed by James Park Associates and is inspired from Dublin’s Georgian Architecture combined with traditional Irish landscape elements, whilst the furniture inside the train will be hand-crafted by local entrepreneurs.

Belmond's Grand Hibernian will be Ireland's first luxury sleeper train. After its launch in Dublin this summer, guests will benefit two, four and six night itinerary packages through the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
