Marriott International announces the opening of Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort in 2025, in collaboration with Morogoro Mishama Company, marking the brand's debut in Tanzania. This luxury resort will offer 75 guestrooms and villas, signature dining and leisure facilities, and is expected to enhance Zanzibar's appeal as a leading leisure destination.

Marriott International is set to enhance Tanzania's hospitality scene by introducing Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts to Zanzibar in 2025. A partnership with Morogoro Mishama Company will bring the Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort to life, featuring 75 guestrooms and villas that promise guests a luxurious stay infused with the brand's European heritage and chic programming. This move is in response to the growing demand for premium accommodations in the region and aims to bolster Zanzibar's reputation as a top leisure destination.

Karim Cheltout, Regional Vice President – Development, Africa, Marriott International, emphasized Zanzibar's burgeoning appeal for leisure travel and expressed enthusiasm for the brand's contribution to the tourism sector in Tanzania. The resort, located in the picturesque Bwejuu area on the island's Eastern coast, will offer stunning views of the Indian Ocean and a host of amenities designed to provide an immersive experience for guests.

The Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort is planned to include a specialty restaurant, an open-air bar, and various recreational facilities, such as a fitness center, swimming pool, spa, kids club, and lagoon. This establishment will encapsulate Le Méridien's commitment to 'Savour the Good Life,' allowing guests to explore the destination's culture, cuisine, and coordinates in style.

Rishen Patel, Managing Director of Morogoro Mishama Company, expressed excitement over the collaboration with Marriott International, highlighting the project's significance in enhancing Zanzibar's hospitality offerings and attracting global visitors. Morogoro Mishama Company, part of Delaware Investment Limited, is recognized for developing luxury hotels across Africa and will work alongside ALEPH Hospitality, selected as the third-party operator for the franchised property.

Bani Haddad, Founder and Managing Director of Aleph Hospitality, shared his enthusiasm for managing the operations of Le Méridien Zanzibar Resort, noting the resort's potential to be a remarkable addition to Zanzibar's accommodations. The announcement comes as Zanzibar experiences a significant increase in international tourism, further establishing its status as a premier travel destination.
