President Zelensky announces punishment of Russian atrocities
Volodymyr Zelensky says abuse against his country’s civilians will be punished.
With Russian troops attacking civilian targets as well as hospitals, nurseries, and schools, Ukraine’s President vows revenge.
"There will be no quiet place on Earth for you. Except for the grave.
"We will not forgive, we will not forget, we will punish everyone who committed atrocities in this war on our land.
"Thousands of people work there. Hundreds of thousands live nearby. This is murder. Premeditated murder," Zelensky commented.
On the other hand, Russian officials claim "special military operation" against the country’s "nationalists" and "neo-Nazis", not against civilians.
In Mariupol, civilian evacuation was cancelled twice, due to heavy shelling by Russian military, despite negotiations, while the city is running out of water, power or food. An estimated of 200.000 people are currently blocked under heavy bombardments on the city.
"Shelled hospitals, the shelled houses for kindergartens and schools, and the ordinary households. This is how the reality looks," Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna also declared.
Amnesty International report shows cluster munitions and ballistic missiles hitting kindergartens, nurseries and hospitals across Ukraine. Attacks targetting civilians or civilian infrastructure goes against the Geneva Conventions and make subject to war crimes convictions.
According to data from the UN monitors said 364 civilians lost their lives since the war began and more than 1.5 million refugees had fled Ukraine.
