Public Transport Disruptions at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in May Due to Construction

Travelers heading to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) in May should be aware of significant disruptions to public transport services due to ongoing construction work. The disruptions will affect several S-Bahn and regional train services, so it’s important to plan your journey in advance to avoid delays.
S-Bahn Line Restrictions
From 29 April (3:45 a.m.) to 12 May (1:30 a.m.), both S-Bahn lines S9 and S45 will not offer non-stop service from BER Airport to the city center. These lines will only run between BER and Altglienicke. Additionally, the S45 will be limited to running only between Baumschulenweg and Südkreuz.
A rail replacement service will be in place during this time (lines S9A and S9X) between Schönefeld (near Berlin) and Baumschulenweg.
From 14 May (10 p.m.) to 19 May (1:30 a.m.), both S9 and S45 will be limited to operating only between BER and Schöneweide, with further restrictions in place during off-peak hours.
Regional Train Service Disruptions
On 28 April and 12 May, only the RE8 and S-Bahn trains will operate between BER and Berlin city center. There will also be disruptions to the FEX airport express service until 12 June, with diversions and partial cancellations. Additional disruptions will affect RB22, RB23, RB24 Süd, and RB32 during May.
Travel Planning
To minimize any inconvenience, it is recommended to check the timetable information from Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg (VBB) before your journey. Ensure that you are aware of any changes to your route and allow for extra travel time, especially during the periods of disruption.
Plan ahead to ensure a smooth journey to Berlin Brandenburg Airport despite the ongoing construction-related changes to the public transport system.
