Frontier Airlines Commences Cleveland-San Diego and San Francisco Flight Routes

California calls, as ultra-low cost carrier Frontier (F9) takes off from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to San Francisco International Airport and San Diego International Airport.
San Diego will be operating three times per week as of June 21st. Flights from Cleveland will be operated four times a week to the "City by the Bay".
Frontier Airlines is now the largest carrier in Cleveland, based on destinations served. With SFO and SAN as well as 15 other direct routes from Ohio, Frontiers has firmly established itself as the leader. Daniel Shurz is the senior vice president of Frontier Airlines' commercial division. He released a media release to celebrate this announcement.
"Cleveland is an integral part of our operation. Our commitment to Cleveland is strong, and we're excited to continue expanding at CLE. In doing so, Ohioans have more convenient and affordable options to visit some of the best vacation hotspots. San Diego and San Francisco are two of America's most popular travel destinations. Now that summer has arrived, it is a perfect time to enjoy stunning California beaches and all these cities' excitement."
Frontier will compete with United Airlines on the route between Cleveland and San Francisco. San Diego, however, will continue to be ripe, as Frontier is the only carrier operating the route. Currently, these routes are only available during the summer months in North America. The airline may decide to expand in the future.
Frontier's latest move comes on the heels of a busy May. The ULCC began its four-times weekly direct routes between CLE and San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dallas, DFW, and Charlotte, CLT, which started May 12th.
Cleveland is Frontier's 10th most important destination. Cleveland.com reports that despite being the fourth largest airline in terms of passenger numbers and market share behind the 'Big Three', United (UA), American Airlines (AA) and Delta (DL), Frontier is the destination with the most destinations at CLE.
Frontier now offers direct flights to Puerto Rico. This joins Aer Lingus's service to Dublin, Ireland, Air Canada's service to Toronto-Pearson, Canada, and Frontier Airlines' service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. All have their own monopoly, except for Cancun, Mexico, where Frontier Airlines and United Airlines compete.
Dennis Kramer, Interim Airport Director at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, noted the growth of Frontier in CLE and issued this statement.
"We are extremely excited about the additional destinations Frontier brings into the Cleveland market. Frontier's continued investment into Northeast Ohio shows why they continue to be one of our great airline partners, helping us foster economic vitality by connecting people and business to the world."
On the airline's site, you can see that arrival and departure times vary depending on your travel dates. San Diego's direct flights will only operate on Sundays and Tuesdays. San Francisco will fly on Mondays and Wednesdays.
