Rich People's Beach In Malibu Will Open To The Public

Back in the 1980s, beach access was blocked by wealthy locals.
A affluent clientele-only beach in Malibu, California is about to lose its anonymity.
For decades, legal disputes over Escondido Beach's inaccessibility to the public have been at the centre of the city's attention. The beach reportedly became inaccessible back in the 1980s due to rich houses in the area. But things are about to go in a different direction now.
At a hearing on June 7, the California Coastal Commission issued citations to two landowners for blocking public access to a stretch of beach near their properties.
"Escondido" translates to "hidden" in Spanish, and accessibility to this beach stayed limited long into the 21st century, earning it the name. However, Escondido Beach is situated in a very popular location of central Malibu, close to Paradise Cove, Escondido Falls, and Point Dume, and may be accessed via Escondido Beach Road, which is off of Pacific Coast Highway.
The property owners, after more than 30 years of fighting these breaches, have consented to pay fines and collaborate by realigning the sections of public access to make them accessible to tourists. The land on which the new entrance will be constructed was reportedly formerly belonging to a Paramount Pictures executive and owner of the Bally Total Fitness.
In recent years, Malibu has been known as "Billionaire's Beach" due to the influx of celebrities and other public figures who have bought pricey properties there.
There is no official timeline for when public access will be granted, but visitors may still enjoy Malibu's 27 miles of public beaches. The California Coastal Commission released a map of the state's coastlines and the facilities available at each.
