
Bad weather causes travel disruptions across UK

Adverse weather took toll over Britain and several parts of European; travelers are affected.
The extreme weather in Britain caused the partial closing of the London Waterloo railway station, as 9 out of 21 platform were disrupted the activity due to congestion at Clapham Junction.
Moreover, rails services in Kent and Sussex were also affected. The authorities replaced the trains with buses that connected the main stations. Meanwhile, the Welsh borders lines remained closed for 24 hours.
Trains in Glasgow, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham to London registered consistent delays. Likewise, the passengers at Birmingham Airport experienced long hours in the awaiting room in order to takeoff towards their destinations.
Across Europe, the Nice-Cote d’Azur and Amsterdam airports were closed for a few hours, leading to disruption in the services of many airlines, such as easyJet, Air France and KLM.
As airline passengers has to find another way t travel across European cities, rail operator Eurostar was overwhelmed by ticket demands.
“Our trains are at capacity, and as a result St Pancras is very busy today. Please do not come to to the station unless you have a valid ticket for travel today,” a company’s representative urged travelers.
Weather aside, with the winter holidays near to come, officials are also concerned about the announced transport sector strikes significantly affecting travel plans this Christmas.
