British Airways Expands Summer Schedule with New Routes to Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi

British Airways has kicked off its summer schedule by announcing the addition of two new destinations: Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi. These routes mark a significant milestone for the airline, reconnecting the UK with both regions and expanding its global network. Flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi are now available for booking, with daily flights to Kuala Lumpur and four times a week to Tbilisi this summer.
Kuala Lumpur: Returning After Five Years
British Airways has resumed flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after a five-year hiatus. The inaugural flight from London Heathrow took off on April 1, 2025, landing in the Malaysian capital the following day. This route will operate daily, with return fares starting from £574.
Served by the airline’s Boeing 787-900 fleet, passengers can choose from four cabins: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), Club World (business), and First. In addition, British Airways has expanded its codeshare partnership with Malaysia Airlines, providing customers with more seamless connections to over 17 routes across Asia Pacific.
This expansion highlights British Airways' continued investment in the Asia Pacific region, enhancing its connectivity to Malaysia and beyond, while fostering business, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
Tbilisi: Returning After 12 Years
After a 12-year break, Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is back on the British Airways route network. The service from London Heathrow to Tbilisi began on March 30, 2025, with flights operating four times per week. The Georgian capital is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture, making it a compelling destination for travelers.
The Tbilisi route will be operated with two cabin options: Club Europe (business class) and Euro Traveller (economy). Return fares start at £244. Euro Traveller passengers can enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks, while Club Europe passengers benefit from lounge access, priority boarding, a full meal service, and additional baggage allowance.
Expanding Across the Network
In addition to the new routes to Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi, British Airways is also making significant adjustments to its current network. Flights to Tokyo will now operate twice daily from London Heathrow, increasing the frequency of services to Japan. British Airways has also announced new Italian routes, including destinations like Rimini (launching May 15) and Salerno (launching May 22), with a new service from London City to Olbia starting May 25.
This expansion brings the total number of Italian destinations British Airways serves to 19, more than any other European country in its network. Additionally, the airline has increased flights to Riyadh, nearly doubling the number of seats available for travelers to Saudi Arabia.
British Airways Commitment to Global Connectivity
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, expressed excitement about the new routes, saying, “We’re delighted to reconnect the UK with Malaysia and Georgia, two key destinations our customers love. These new routes mean more choice for customers traveling for business or leisure, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
British Airways’ commitment to expanding its global network is evident in these new routes, which provide customers with even more travel options for the summer of 2025. With the airline’s continued investment in new aircraft and expanded services, travelers can look forward to enhanced experiences and greater connectivity worldwide.
