Debuting in 2025: Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas - A Vacation Experience Like No Other

Cruise Lines & Cruise Ships

Ladies and gentlemen, cue the drum roll, because a groundbreaking vacation experience is on the horizon, and it goes by the name 'Star of the Seas.'

We are just a whisker away from the grand unveiling, with approximately 100 days left until the debut of the inaugural ship in the Icon Class series, the 'Icon of the Seas.' Royal Caribbean International has now unveiled the identity of their upcoming Icon Class vessel along with its inaugural season – scheduled for the scorching summer of 2025.

As the world's largest cruise line, Royal Caribbean is set to follow up on the momentous launch of the Icon Class with an even bolder endeavor. 'Star of the Seas' promises to be an amalgamation of every conceivable type of vacation experience unique to the Icon Class, ranging from idyllic beach getaways and luxurious resort escapes to thrilling theme park adventures. This remarkable lineup of new experiences and beloved classics on 'Star' is poised to provide an array of opportunities for families and adventure seekers to create unforgettable memories, all without compromise. The ship is currently in the process of being constructed in Turku, Finland, and soon, more details about its features will come to light.

Michael Bayley, the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating:

“The idea of combining the best of every type of vacation into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated, and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we’ve seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas.”

The initial glimpse into 'Icon' and the Icon Class made waves in October 2022, leading to the cruise line's most significant booking day and the busiest booking week in its then-53-year history. This unparalleled consumer demand prompted Royal Caribbean to release vacation bookings for 2025-2026 on 'Icon' three months ahead of schedule, followed by the announcement of 'Star's' name and debut season. Notable features of 'Icon' include six record-breaking waterslides at Thrill Island's Category 6 waterpark, seven pools – one for each day of the week, 'Surfside' – an all-day family-friendly neighborhood, a diverse range of entertainment options spanning air, ice, water, and stage, over 40 dining and drinking venues, and much more.

'Star of the Seas' will also mark another milestone in this new era as Royal Caribbean's third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), combining the utilization of the cleanest-burning marine fuel currently available with a proven array of industry-leading environmental initiatives on board. From waste heat recovery systems to shore power connections, this vessel will exemplify Royal Caribbean's commitment to sustainability, advancing its parent company, Royal Caribbean Group's, mission to introduce a net-zero emissions cruise ship by 2035.

Further particulars about 'Star of the Seas' will be disclosed in due course. Enthusiastic fans can be the first to receive updates by signing up on Royal Caribbean's official website.
