Ground-Breaking Ceremony Marks Start of Luxury Sofitel Hotel at Dublin Airport

Hotels & Resorts

In an exciting development for travelers, Accor and The Arora Group have officially broken ground on the Sofitel Dublin Airport, a luxury hotel poised to transform the hospitality landscape at Ireland's main international gateway. The new hotel is set to feature 412 elegantly designed rooms and suites, along with a variety of upscale amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, a tea salon, and a sky bar on the 11th floor that will offer breathtaking views of the airport and surrounding areas.

Seamless Connectivity for Travelers

Scheduled to open by late 2026, the hotel will be directly connected to Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport, ensuring seamless access for passengers. This franchised development is part of Accor's strategy to enhance high-quality hospitality experiences in Ireland, a market they view as highly attractive due to its geography, workforce, and welcoming culture.

Statements from Company Leaders

Sébastien Bazin, CEO & Chairman of Accor, remarked, “The addition of Sofitel Dublin Airport will infuse new energy into the community, raising the bar for luxury accommodations and inspiring travelers to rediscover the beauty and charm of this historic destination.”

Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel, added, “Sofitel Dublin Airport will be deeply embedded in local culture, celebrating the magic of encounters between people and countries while promoting sustainable luxury and heartfelt service.”

Collaboration with The Arora Group

The Arora Group, a significant franchise partner of Accor and experienced developer of airport hotels, is leading the project. The group is well-known for its successful operations of both Sofitel London Heathrow and Sofitel London Gatwick. In 2018, Arora secured the opportunity to develop this €100 million hotel through a competitive bidding process conducted by daa, the operator of Dublin Airport.

Luxurious Amenities and Facilities

The Sofitel Dublin Airport will boast a range of luxurious amenities, including a sophisticated all-day dining restaurant, a refined tea salon, and an exclusive sky bar. The hotel will also feature an executive lounge, a fitness center, and extensive meeting and event spaces, including a ballroom and eight flexible meeting rooms.

Impact on the Local Economy

With Dublin Airport welcoming over 31 million passengers annually, the new hotel will cater to the increasing number of travelers passing through the airport. Surinder Arora, Founder & Chairman of the Arora Group, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “Breaking the ground today is incredibly exciting as it is the group’s first hotel development outside of the United Kingdom.”

Kenny Jacobs, CEO of daa, emphasized the positive impact of the hotel on the local community, noting that it will create hundreds of jobs during both the construction phase and after the hotel opens.

The Sofitel Dublin Airport is set to open its doors in late 2026, heralding a new era of luxury and sophistication for travelers to and from Dublin.
