Jewel Changi Airport Marks 5th Anniversary with Thriving Visitor Growth and Special Events

Airlines & Airports

Jewel Changi Airport is celebrating its fifth anniversary amidst a significant recovery in visitorship, highlighted by a 26% increase in footfall and a 20% rise in sales for the financial year 23/24. The iconic Singaporean destination has become a global attraction not only for travelers but also for international tourists, with 30% of its visitors coming from abroad.

James Fong, CEO of Jewel Changi Airport Development, reflected on the milestone, stating, “Five years ago, we embarked on a mission to redefine the airport experience. Today, Jewel stands as a testament to that vision, continuing to offer world-class experiences to both local residents and international travelers.”

To commemorate its fifth anniversary, Jewel has launched a series of celebratory events and initiatives under the theme 'What A Feelin5'. Highlights include a new Light & Music showcase called “What A Feelin5”, created by renowned designers WET, which adds a festive atmosphere to the daily shows at the Rain Vortex.

Additionally, Jewel is set to introduce a behind-the-scenes tour called “In the Eye of the Jewel Rain Vortex”. This unique tour, starting in the second half of the year, offers guests an inside look at the workings of the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.

The celebration extends to the retail and dining experience, with more than 50 special collaborations and exclusive perks rolled out in phases. Notable launches include unique collections only available at Jewel, such as Starbucks’ Singapore-exclusive cold cup and Asian Artistry Fine Jewellery’s Jadeite Pendant inspired by the Rain Vortex.

For the younger crowd, the Youth Floral Cup returns on May 24, allowing youths aged 7 to 12 to engage in floral arrangement competitions. The event is part of the Jewel Blooms floral showcase at Canopy Park, which runs from May 24 to August 11 and features installations that evoke emotions of happiness, peace, and adventure.

In line with its commitment to community service, Jewel will also host a charity event in partnership with Metta Welfare Association, supporting the development of the new Maitri School for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As Jewel Changi Airport continues to evolve, it remains a vibrant hub where the world meets Singapore, and Singapore meets the world, offering an ever-expanding array of attractions, shops, and dining options that cater to a diverse audience.
