London Gatwick Launches New Air India Route to Bangalore Amid Expanding India Network

Airlines & Airports

London Gatwick has introduced a new direct service to Bengaluru (Bangalore), operating five times weekly, as part of its expanding network to India.

New Route to Bangalore

Passengers across London and the South East can now access a vibrant new destination in India this summer with the launch of Air India's direct flights from London Gatwick to Bengaluru. The route will operate five times a week from the South Terminal, adding to the airport's growing list of connections to India.

Expanding Air India Network

This new service to Bengaluru becomes the fifth direct route offered by Air India from London Gatwick, joining existing routes to Goa, Kochi, Ahmedabad, and Amritsar. The addition of this route increases the total number of weekly flights between London Gatwick and India to 19, including services operated by TUI to Goa.

Future Expansion Plans

London Gatwick has set an ambitious goal to double its connectivity to India over the next five years, reflecting the strong economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Future expansion plans are focused on key destinations such as Delhi and Mumbai, which are high priorities for the airport.

Boosting Trade and Tourism

Stephanie Wear, VP of Aviation Development at London Gatwick, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, stating, "This new service to Bengaluru is excellent news for both passengers and businesses across London and the South East. Bengaluru's dynamic tech industry and cultural significance make it a fantastic addition to our route network. It’s set to be a popular service, providing fantastic opportunities for both tourism and trade."

Investment in Long-Term Growth

London Gatwick is also investing in its long-term growth with a planning application to bring the airport’s existing Northern Runway into routine use. The plan, which is nearing the end of the Planning Inspectorate’s examination phase, aims to improve resilience, reduce delays, and significantly boost the national and regional economy by supporting trade, tourism, and job creation.
