Lufthansa Introduces City-Airport Check-In at Seoul Station

SEOUL – Lufthansa German Airlines has launched a new service allowing passengers to check in for their flights at Seoul Station City-Airport Terminal. This innovative service enables customers to check in their bags directly to their final destination and complete immigration procedures before arriving at Incheon International Airport.

Exclusive Service for Lufthansa Passengers

Lufthansa is the only foreign airline offering such a service in Korea. Passengers can now enjoy a seamless travel experience by obtaining their boarding passes and checking their luggage at Seoul Station. This initiative is part of Lufthansa's commitment to enhancing convenience and sustainability for its passengers.

Enhanced Connectivity and Sustainability

Lufthansa’s first flight from Frankfurt to Seoul commenced on October 31, 1984, with a stop in Anchorage, Alaska. Over the years, Lufthansa has strengthened its presence in Korea, now offering direct flights from Germany to South Korea. This latest development marks another milestone in Lufthansa’s history of connecting Europe and Korea.

Partnership with KTX for Intermodal Travel

In a first outside of Europe, Lufthansa has partnered with Korean rail provider KTX to offer an intermodal transport solution. Passengers can now travel to and from Incheon Airport to eight KTX destinations, including Busan, Dongdaegu, Gwangju, Ulsan, Pohang, Yeosu, Mokpo, and Jinju, on a single ticket. This partnership promotes a sustainable and eco-friendly travel option.

Convenient Check-In and Immigration Services

Travelers using the Rail & Air solution with KTX or the AREX Airport Railroad Express from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport can check in their luggage and complete immigration procedures at Seoul Station City-Airport Terminal. This service aims to provide a hassle-free and efficient travel experience.

Commitment to Korean Market

Leandro Tonidandel, Lufthansa Group Country Manager for Korea, stated, "At Lufthansa Group, we are transforming the travel journey with every step. Our pioneering check-in facility at Seoul's main train station redefines convenience while championing sustainability, offering travelers a seamless and eco-friendly journey."

Expanding Services

With 17 weekly frequencies between Europe and Korea and the first direct connection between Seoul and Zurich, Lufthansa continues to expand its services. The new check-in facility at Seoul Station City-Airport Terminal underscores Lufthansa Group’s dedication to the Korean market.
