MSC Cruises Marks Construction Milestones for MSC World America and MSC World Asia

MSC Cruises, in collaboration with Chantiers de l’Atlantique, marked significant milestones in the construction of two innovative World Class ships, MSC World America and MSC World Asia, during a press event at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami.
MSC World America reached a pivotal stage with its float-out ceremony at the shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, signaling the near completion of its construction. The vessel is scheduled for an official naming ceremony on April 9, 2025, at MSC Cruises' new state-of-the-art terminal in PortMiami, followed by an inaugural sail to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. This private island is not only a luxurious getaway but also plays a crucial role in coral conservation.
Simultaneously, the steel-cutting ceremony for MSC World Asia kicked off its construction, setting a delivery target for 2026. This vessel, like its counterparts, will embody MSC Cruises' global outreach but with a special focus on Asian influences in its design and onboard experiences.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, emphasized the strategic partnership with Chantiers de l’Atlantique, which has led to the development of five distinct ship prototypes. The World Class ships, including MSC World America and MSC World Asia, are being designed with groundbreaking environmental technology and innovative guest features aimed at defining the future of cruising.
Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, highlighted that the third World Class vessel, MSC World Asia, will incorporate state-of-the-art technologies to become one of the cleanest and most energy-efficient ships worldwide. This initiative continues MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique's commitment to environmental stewardship.
MSC World America is set to become a landmark in the U.S. cruising scene. Tailored specifically for North American travelers, it will merge European elegance with American style across its 22 decks, featuring over 2,600 staterooms and extensive public spaces. The ship is particularly noted for its environmentally friendly LNG power source.
Both MSC World America and MSC World Asia exemplify modern maritime architecture with their distinctive plumb bows and Y-shaped aft, leading to expansive outdoor promenades. These ships represent MSC Cruises' dedication to sustainability, featuring the latest in LNG technology, shore power connectivity, and advanced onboard resource management systems to minimize their environmental impact.
These milestones underscore MSC Cruises' ongoing commitment to innovation, guest experience, and sustainability in the cruise industry.
