New Space Plane to Carry Tourists into Orbit

Virgin Galactic presented on Friday evening in the United States, a new plane that could carry tourists into space, 16 months after a similar vehicle crashes in the Mojave Desert in California during an experimental flight, informs USA Today

New space plane, named Virgin Space Ship Unity (VSS Unity), will undergo extensive testing and an experimental flight in the atmosphere before exiting in the suborbital aria of the Earth.

Virgin Galactic, founded by Richard Branson, which aims to transport tourists and researchers in suborbital space, has not announced the exact date of the launching these short races.

For Richard Branson this project is more than amazing, as he declared in a presentation of the space plane, in a ceremony at the Mojave Aerospace Base, located 160 kilometers north of Los Angeles California.

VSS Unity replaces a similar model - SpaceShipTwo - crashed on October 31, 2014 during an experimental flight, an incident that had killed a pilot and seriously injuring the second. SpaceShipTwo was the commercial version of SpaceShipOne, the first private spacecraft that has reached the limit of the outer space in 2004, and is on permanent display at the National Museum of Air and Space in Washington. Before the aviation incident in October 2014, over 500 people had already made reservations for the suborbital flight, for a few minutes of weightlessness conditions aboard SpaceShipTwo, already submitting an advance sum of $ 200,000 representing the cost of the ticket.
