
Olympic Channel to be launched later this month

As announced by The International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Channel enabling sports fans to be closer to the Olympic events will be launched this August
After the closing of the Rio Olympic Games 2016 on 21st of August, the new free Olympic Channel platform will be available on a global level on-line and via mobile app to enable audiences to stay connected to the Olympic Movement, by following original programming content, live events and news about sports and elite athletes.
At first, the Olympic Channel will be offered in English, while additional features will include a user-friendly interface, linear television programming options, dedicated content selection and nine different languages used for subtitles. Localized versions of the Olympic Channel platform will also be available after the global digital product launch in August.
With the occasion of the Olympic Channel launch IOC president Thomas Bach commented:
“The launch of the Olympic Channel on August 21st is the start of an exciting new journey to connect the worldwide audience with the Olympic Movement all year round. Fans will be able to follow sports, athletes and the stories behind the Olympic Games. The Olympic Channel will inspire us all and reach out to new generations of athletes and fans.”
The Olympic Channel content can also be shared across social media platforms, to raise awareness and encourage people to boost the Olympic Movement.
