Princess Cruises, Fincantieri Delay Sun Princess; Feb 8 Inaugural Voyage Canceled

Cruise Lines & Cruise Ships

Princess Cruises and the shipbuilder Fincantieri have jointly decided to postpone the delivery of the Sun Princess, Italy's largest ever constructed vessel and the first of a new platform uniquely designed for Princess Cruises. This decision has unfortunately necessitated the cancellation of the ship's first 10-day voyage, which was scheduled to depart from Barcelona on February 8th.

John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises, expressed his understanding of the disappointment this news brings, extending an apology for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.

Those booked on the inaugural voyage will be refunded fully for their cruise fare and any additional onboard services pre-purchased. Additionally, they will receive a 50% future cruise credit (FCC) for use on a later Princess voyage. This FCC must be booked by November 30, 2024, and the cruise taken by December 31, 2025. Guests will also be compensated up to $200 per person for any change fees incurred due to altered air travel arrangements.

Importantly, Princess Cruises is ensuring that travel agent commissions are protected during this change.

For further information, Princess Cruises can be contacted through their media representatives, Negin Kamali (nkamali@princesscruises.com) and Briana Latter (blatter@princesscruises.com).
