Renowned French Actor Alain Delon Is Selling His Art Collection
Classic pieces by artists like Delacroix and Veronesi are among the highlights of his collection, which is estimated at between 4 and 5 million euros.
The valuable works of art be on display in five cities before being auctioned off on June 22: New York, Hong Kong, Geneva, London, and Paris.
“I bought my first drawing in 1964 precisely, in London. Over the years, I acquired more drawings, portraits and sculptures that moved me, spoke to me, and even occasionally consoled me.
“These works have accompanied me through many years and have been part of my life”, he commented.
The actor's collection features a portrait by Delacroix that dates back to 1825 and is valued at up to 600,000 euros. Also, an oil painting by Raoul Dufy is appraised at approximatively 800,000 euros.
In 2007, Alain Delon liquidated a sizeable collection of modern paintings, explaining that he despised the concept of selling one's own works after one's death. In 2016, he sold off his wine, watch, and weapon holdings, continuing the trend of downsizing his estate he followed in previous years.
