Ryanair Launches Year-Round Flights from Milan to Rovaniemi

Starting in October 2024, Ryanair will offer year-round scheduled flights from Milan Bergamo Airport to Rovaniemi Airport, marking a significant enhancement in international connectivity for Finland's Lapland region. This route will become the third year-round international flight connection to Finavia's airports in Lapland.

Flight Schedule and Operations

The new flights will commence on 27 October 2024, with three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Beginning in April 2025, the schedule will shift to two flights per week, operating on Fridays and Sundays, maintaining the route's year-round status. The flights will be operated using 189-seat Boeing 737 aircraft.

Strengthening Connectivity in Lapland

Petri Vuori, Finavia’s Senior Vice President for route development, expressed enthusiasm for Ryanair’s decision to continue the route year-round. “Ryanair is Europe’s leading low-cost airline and a crucial partner for us. The Milan route will enhance the year-round accessibility of Rovaniemi and the entire Lapland region,” he stated.

Boosting Rovaniemi’s Year-Round Appeal

Sanna Kärkkäinen, Managing Director of Visit Rovaniemi, highlighted the importance of the new flight connection. “Rovaniemi has been actively developing its year-round accessibility, and now we have an essential link to Bergamo in Milan. The city’s winter reputation lays a strong foundation for demand from the Southern European market during snowless seasons. This route will provide excellent connections for both travelers heading north and locals wishing to visit Europe,” she remarked.

Expanding International Connections to Lapland

The Milan-Rovaniemi route will add to the growing list of international connections to Lapland. Discover Airlines and Edelweiss Air, part of the Lufthansa Group, have already announced plans to continue their summer 2025 scheduled flights to Kittilä Airport from Frankfurt and Zürich, respectively.

With these developments, Ryanair’s new route will significantly contribute to the accessibility and attractiveness of Rovaniemi as a travel destination throughout the year.
