Ryanair Unveils New Flight Paths and Growth Strategy for Tirana Airport

At a recent press conference at Mother Teresa Airport in Tirana, Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary and Tirana Airport Operations Director Piervittorio Farabbi discussed the airport's development strategies and Ryanair's introduction of new routes.

 

Michael O’Leary highlighted the Kastrati Group's investments in the airport as a catalyst for new opportunities and destinations. Ryanair is set to expand its offerings this summer, adding several new destinations including Bari, Birmingham, Bristol, Marseille, Vienna, and Budapest, bringing its total to 22 destinations.

Piervittorio Farabbi, reflecting on recent progress, mentioned the inauguration of the new terminal with Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama and Ryanair’s CEO. He noted that the airport closed the year with 7.25 million passengers, a significant increase over 2019. With continued growth anticipated, passenger numbers are expected to reach around 9 million by the end of 2024. Farabbi emphasized the ongoing expansion and enhancement of the airport's capacity, along with a commitment to manage the increased activity and passenger flow with Albania’s characteristic hospitality.

O’Leary expressed gratitude to the Kastrati Group for their investment in Tirana International Airport, which is elevating Tirana as a compelling destination for major airline investments. Ryanair has ambitious plans, including discussions with the Kastrati Group to establish a Ryanair base in Tirana, which would create more local employment opportunities. The new routes introduced will provide a wider range of choices at competitive prices.
