SWISS Extends Tel Aviv Flight Suspension to November 10 Amid Middle East Tensions
SWISS Airlines has announced an extension of its flight suspension to and from Tel Aviv, now set to last until November 10, 2024. This decision follows a thorough review of the situation in the Middle East and aims to ensure greater predictability for passengers and crew. The airline will offer affected customers free rebooking to a later date or full refunds.
Airspace Avoidance Across the Middle East
Amid the escalating situation, SWISS has also implemented measures to avoid the airspace over Iran, Iraq, and Jordan since October 1. The adjusted routes add approximately 15 minutes to flights heading to Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia. Additionally, Israeli and Lebanese airspace will continue to be bypassed until at least October 31.
On October 1, flight LX242 to Dubai was diverted to Antalya for refueling before continuing its journey, bypassing the affected areas. The airline continues to monitor the situation closely, coordinating with Swiss and local authorities to ensure passenger safety.
Extended Flight Cancellations to Beirut
Flights to Beirut have also been suspended, with the cancellations now extending until November 30, 2024. SWISS made this decision after assessing regional safety concerns, aiming to provide passengers with certainty in their travel plans.
Passenger Assistance and Rebooking Options
Affected passengers are being contacted directly by SWISS. The airline offers flexible options for those impacted, including the possibility to reschedule flights for a later date at no additional cost or to receive a full refund.
Monitoring the Situation
