The Carlton Cannes will be Europe's first Regent brand hotel starting 2023
One of the world's largest hotel chains, IHG Hotels & Resorts, announced the expansion of its cooperation with Katara Hospitality.
The hotel chain will be adding a landmark property to its Regent Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
Spring of 2023 will see the reopening of the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel after a two-year extensive renovation worth millions of euros.
As part of IHG's Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, Regent Hotels & Resorts is making a comeback to redefine what it means to provide contemporary luxury, and this hotel will serve as a showcase property for the next generation of Regent Hotels & Resorts.
The announcement honours the half of century-long cooperation between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Katara Hospitality, owner of the Carlton Cannes. Katara Hospitality is headquartered in Qatar and is a multi-award-winning worldwide hotel developer and operator.
French interior designer Tristan Auer recognised for his unique style and beauty has designed all 332 guest rooms and 37 branded apartments at the upcoming Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel. The hotel's historic characteristics, especially its iconic façade, have been expertly preserved as part of the extensive refurbishment effort, which has also resulted in a contemporary masterpiece. At the Calton Cannes - a Regent Hotel, guests will find the latest features from the hotel chain.
Andrew Humphries, CEO at Katara Hospitality, declared following the official announcement:
“We are absolutely delighted to be working with IHG to transform the Carlton Cannes into a Regent Hotel, providing an inspiring gateway from which to explore the wonders of the French Riveira. Our aim is to deliver the serene and sensational at every turn. Our significant and continued investment will ensure that the hotel will stand the test of time for many years to come.”
Kenneth Macpherson, EMEAA Regional CEO, IHG Hotels & Resorts, replied:
“With a long history of hosting royalty, dignitaries and stars of stage and screen, the Carlton Cannes is one of the world’s most iconic hotels. It is an icon of Riviera glamour, and we look forward to working with strategic partner Katara Hospitality to bring the reimagined Regent experience to life at the Carlton Cannes. This is just the start of our ambition to grow the brand further across Europe.”
The addition of Carlton Cannes to the Regent Hotels & Resorts portfolio represents a particularly significant moment in the rethinking of the iconic Regent brand since created by IHG Hotels & Resorts back in 2018.
The company, which was founded in 1970 with the intention of revolutionising the luxury travel industry, has established a reputation for cutting-edge design, breathtaking scenery, iconic locations, and impeccable service. Together with Chongqing, Shanghai, and Phu Quoc, Carlton Cannes will usher in the new age of Regent, which honours the finest experiences for contemporary leaders in the luxury sector.
Vietnam's Regent Phu Quoc debuted in April of this year, the first new-build Regent to open under the brand's new strategy after the sophisticated refurbishment of Regent Chongqing and Regent Shanghai the year before. Also f following an extensive makeover, Regent Hong Kong will reopen in Victoria Harbour by the end of 2022, and the Regent Bali will open in the beginning of 2023.
Over 50 years ago, the founders of Regent Hotels & Resorts set out to revolutionise the luxury tourism segment. When it comes to luxury hotel design, Regent Hotels was an early adopter of several cutting-edge innovations that are now industry standards.
IHG has eight planned Regent hotels, with Carlton Cannes serving as a European centrepiece. The latest deal demonstrates IHG's commitment to the French market, as for a very long time, the country has been a preferred vacation and business trip destination for people all over the world.
