The First JW Marriott Hotel Opens In The Spanish Capital of Madrid
The new, luxury hotel can be found in the centre of the city, only steps from world-famous museums and theatres in the culturally charming Canalejas district, which is just adjacent to the famous, lively, and crowded Puerta del Sol.
The hotel, considered to be an urban retreat or a mindfulness sanctuary, was built to provide a new level of luxury, one that encourages visitors to reconnect with themselves on all levels - physical, mental, and spiritual, as the property has been carefully designed to promote introspection and renewal. The vast patios of the apartments on the top levels provide breathtaking views of the city below.
The new 139-room guest-house in the heart of the Spanish city is inspired by the brand's core concept that genuine luxury is having the freedom and opportunity to concentrate on ones identity.
The hotel includes a huge, well-equipped fitness centre and wellness area, but it has also created unique in-room experiences so that guests may have a wellness adventure that is uniquely their own. In order to help visitors take care of their bodies, the hotel provides yoga mats in every room and provides free access to video exercises and meditation sessions through QR codes. Each bathroom in the hotel serves as a personal spa thanks to the bath selection, which has relaxing music and lighting options designed to stimulate all of the senses.
The building, which was formerly a perfume shop and hence has a special history, is emblematic of Madrid and its culture.
Rockwell Group was tasked with the architecture and design of the hotel, and they delivered with a classy idea that makes use of natural materials and a muted colour palette to create a soothing atmosphere. Created with the spirit of Madrid in mind, the property features 19th-century wrought iron columns as well as many historical details that have been preserved to this day.
In honour of the structure's rich history and the city's amazing past, the JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has partnered with the Spanish Academy of Perfume to design a comprehensive wellness programme that engages all of the senses. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a cup of traditional violet or rosemary scented tea served in a handcrafted ceramic mug. After that, they get to choose a fragrance from a list of five to hang in their closet. The bedside table is stocked with Madrid-themed short stories and scented candles to help you unwind before drifting off to dreamland. Visitors may peruse an antique perfume bottle display, related literature, and essences library at their own pace in the lobby. The Academy also hosts olfactory seminars where visitors may learn more about the city and their own personal fragrance preferences, making them a great option for anyone interested in continuing their scent adventure.
The resort has also collaborated with Michelin-starred chef Mario Sandoval to create a dining and drink concept that delicately reimagines regional cuisine. Using produce from the JW Garden and other local sources, 'QU' is the pinnacle of sophisticated Spanish cuisine. Each dish, served on plates that take their design cues from the elegant packaging of perfume, is a multi-sensory feast that does more than satisfy the appetite. The city's character is captured in an exclusive cocktail menu that features regional delicacies and recognisable flavours and scents like chocolate, rosemary, and lemon.
With the occasion of the opening, Bruce Rohr, Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott, commented:
“JW Marriott is at the forefront of the evolution of luxury travel, placing equal importance on mindfulness and well-being as we do on indulgence and comfort.
“With these brand pillars in mind, we are thrilled to bring the JW Marriott brand to Spain. JW Marriott Hotel Madrid is an ideal reflection of who we are and what we represent, from its thoughtful design to the bespoke programming crafted with guests’ holistic wellness in mind.”
