The flying hotel, a unique aviation experience

The flying hotel is a new, unique concept that will transform the traditional aviation experience. The innovation is one of the projects submitted in the "Radical Innovation Award 2016 ' contest in the US, a hotel flying in a pods shape, which offers a 360 degrees view and that can land in inaccessible places and can offer accommodation at the price of a rented luxury car.
The idea represents a modular hotel whose each room would be a flying glass pod. The pods would be connected to a main stationary hub, but they could detach to allow guests to fly around in a given location. The HOK team calls the Driftscape a "drone hotel," senior project designer Ian Rolston tells Tech Insider.
Powered by the same technology as drones, each 200-square-foot pod could fit two adults, with space for a queen bed, a bathroom (encased in non-transparent walls), and a desk. To accommodate larger groups, the pods could be attached to one another. Each "Driftcrafts" contains also a dashboard with a camera so that guests can take pictures during the trip.
The hotel would hold 10 to 15 flying pods, called "Driftcrafts," which would be attach to a central hub that houses the main lobby, bar, lounge, and restaurant.
If "Driftscape"project passes the project stage and becomes viable commercially, Rolston - its designer, estimates that one night there probably would be accessible to a large range of tourists.
