The Simplon-Orient-Express Train - Caviar&Drinks Connecting Two Great Cities

News

The Simplon-Orient-Express has vintage carriages from the 1920s that have been painstakingly refurbished.

If you want to travel in the lap of luxury, a new Simplon-Orient-Express route, Brussels to Venice, will be introduced by Belmond as soon as 2024.

The Belmond website calls the Orient Express "a legend in motion," and for many people, taking a trip on the train is an opportunity of a lifetime, as this is considered to be the most luxurious train in Europe.

Currently named as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to distinguish it from the original Orient Express, the astonishing train includes a fleet of refurbished vintage carriages from the 1920s.

The elegant dining car, named "Étoile Du Nord," was constructed in 1926 and is adorned with beautiful hardwood marquetry inlays and green velvet seating. Black lacquer panels surround the walls of the 'L'Oriental' dining car, whereas René Lalique glass adorns the “Côte d'Azur”. The cabins are designed in the vintage style and furnished with Art Deco fixtures and marble baths.

The famous Bar Car 3674, known for its resident pianist and Midnight Brunch service, is the perfect place for the passengers to unwind with a beverage before dinner.

The trip kicks out with a four-course seasonal meal prepared by chef Jean Imbert and served with wines hand-picked by a sommelier. Foods such as lobster vol-au-vent or beef fillet with a red wine reduction can be ordered during the memorable journey. After the main course, guests may choose from a variety of cheeses and petit fours. And of course, the caviar menu is also available.

While the train races through towering Alpine peaks and glacial lakes, you may have a leisurely French breakfast in your lodging the following morning. Three courses are served during lunchtime. Pastries are offered as you cruise closer to Venice, and you may have them while taking in the city's iconic domes and spires.

The new service departs Brussels at roughly 5:10 p.m., heading to Venice. The train will get into Venice at around 7 o'clock at night. The departures are set for April 18 and July 25. Additionally, between April 15 and July 22, there will be two services operating between Venice and Brussels.

Estimated travel cost is £4,700 (€5,432).

In addition, Belmond operates trains to Venice departing from Amsterdam, Paris, and Lyon.
