Top US and international summer destinations
According to Allianz Partners, summer travelling for this year will go up 16 per cent when compared to 2021, with most Americans choosing domestic destinations.
"Our findings show that ‘revenge travel’ is about to be taken to a whole new level in summer 2022’, commented Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners.
According to the company’s latest findings, after analysing almost 1.2 million flight itineraries for holidays, the preferred domestic destinations for summer travel 2022 were Orlando and Seattle, followed by Honolulu, Kahului, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland and, finally, Denver.
"While it’s no surprise that Americans are planning to kick back and relax in sun-soaked destinations both domestically and internationally, U.S. cities that were once buzzing tourist destinations pre-pandemic, like Boston, New York and Los Angeles, are seeing a significant return of travellers this summer as well, signalling a positive step in tourism recovery", Durazo added.
Unfortunately, Miami and Anchorage didn’t make it in the top 10 this year.
As for the most popular international choices for the summer of 2022, Americans have a taste for Cancun, followed by San Jose del Cabo in Mexico, Oranjestad in Aruba, Montego Bay in Jamaica, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Vallarta (Mexico), Nassau in the Bahamas, Providenciales Island (Turks and Caicos Islands), Charlotte Amalie in the Virgin Islands and Liberia in Costa Rica.
