United Expands Global Footprint with New International Routes and Enhanced Services

Airlines & Airports

United Airlines announces the introduction of three new international destinations and additional flights, solidifying its position as the U.S. airline with the broadest global network. New services to Marrakesh, Cebu, and Medellin, and increased flights to China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Portugal are on the horizon.

United Broadens International Reach with Exciting New Routes and Increased Flights

United Airlines is set to further extend its leading position in the global aviation market by adding three new non-stop international flights from the United States to Marrakesh, Morocco; Cebu, Philippines; and Medellin, Colombia, marking the airline's first-ever flight to Medellin and establishing it as the sole U.S. carrier to offer direct flights to Marrakesh and Cebu. The announcement, made on March 7, 2024, from Chicago, highlights United's commitment to enhancing its comprehensive international network, which now encompasses 134 destinations across 67 countries.

In addition to these new routes, United is boosting its service to existing popular destinations. This includes increasing flights to Hong Kong, Seoul, South Korea, and Porto, Portugal, and resuming the Los Angeles-Shanghai route in response to a bilateral agreement between the Chinese and U.S. governments to expand flight options.

United's innovative approach to route selection continues to offer travelers unique global destinations, setting the airline apart in the industry. This expansion not only reinforces United's status as the go-to airline for international travelers seeking a broad range of destinations but also underlines its role in connecting off-the-beaten-path locales with the U.S. mainland.

Tickets for the new Shanghai and Cebu flights are already available, with Marrakesh and Medellin flights expected to go on sale later this year. The new routes to Marrakesh and Cebu will begin on October 24 and July 31, respectively, while flights to Medellin are slated to start on October 27. These additions and service enhancements exemplify United's dedication to providing an unmatched global network and superior in-flight experience for its passengers, emphasizing the airline's innovative and customer-centric approach to international travel.
