Important travel information will be directly delivered to passengers' smart-watches, via dedicated app

Designed similarly to the Dubai Airports mobile app, the new smart-watch app enables passengers to receive timed information on their flight status: arrival and departure schedule, terminal number, gate number and luggage details.

Matthew Horobin, head of digital media at Dubai Airports, explains:

“This development is part of an on-going series of digital initiatives at Dubai Airports that are aimed at enabling easy access to personalised information that allows our customers greater freedom to plan their journey and make the most of their time at the airport.

“It’s a service that will find appreciation among the increasing number of travellers that are now smart-phone and smart-watch users.

“As part of the first phase of the project the smart-watch app currently provides customers access to only the most important information related to their flight.

“There are plans to make the app more interactive while also widening its functionality to include way-finding and commercial offers from food and beverage and retail outlets across the airport.”

Developed by Dubai Airports in partnership with M2Mobi from Amsterdam, the new smart-watch app is available on the two main software platforms – iOS and Android.
