Sonesta Relaunches Its Lifestyle Label, The James

News

Franchisees in the United States and Latin America will soon have access to a new luxury lifestyle choice thanks to Sonesta's decision to add The James brand to its portfolio.

The James Nomad in New York is the model for other locations that will be built under the terms of the licensing arrangement. The Royal Sonesta Chicago River North and The Royal Sonesta Washington, DC, Dupont Circle, both part of Sonesta's operated network, will be rebranded as James Hotels later in the year.

According to Elizabeth Harlow, Sonesta's Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, “The James is a lifestyle brand that provides guests with a unique hospitality experience based on high quality services and amenities supported by a timeless design.

The James’ ambiance is locally inspired, influenced by each hotel’s local community to provide each traveller with a memorable guest experience. The James’ hallmark is its commitment to creating an emotional connection with each guest.”

Both out-of-towners and locals will find something to love at one of the James hotels, as each location offers its own special twist on the James brand. In order to make their restaurants become true destinations, hotels will team up with local restaurant owners to provide guests with beverage and cuisine options worthy of a trip.

“Adding The James to our franchise portfolio meets our goal of expanding our Upper-Upscale and lifestyle market offerings and helps position Sonesta as an industry leader in franchising. The James is a sophisticated urban retreat that appeals to a broad, affluent and multigenerational audience. The introduction of this brand is another example of the exciting ways we are developing and evolving Sonesta’s growing franchise portfolio,” added Brian Quinn, the company’s Chief Development Officer.

Sonesta Franchising, a full-stack franchising solution that includes services like hotel management and marketing, launched in the United States in September 2021. The network includes 14 top-tier hotel chains, and provides accommodations and amenities to suit the demands of every tourist. According to data compiled by Smith Travel Research, Sonesta ranks as the eighth biggest hotel chain worldwide, with 1,200 facilities offering 100,000 hotel rooms under 16 different brands in eight different countries.
