SpaceX prepares for another rocket launch
The company has announced its next mission will begin early January, after finalizing the investigation of the explosion on 1st of September. The rocket launch is set from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
After originally planned on December 16th, the launch has been rescheduled early January 2017, as, according to its official representatives, SpaceX needs more time to plan the new mission’s details.
“We are finalizing the investigation into our Sept. 1 anomaly and are working to complete the final steps necessary to safely and reliably return to flight, now in early January with the launch of Iridium-1. This allows for additional time to close out vehicle preparations and complete extended testing to help ensure the highest possible level of mission assurance prior to launch,” stated SpaceX founder, Elon Musk.
The explosion at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on September 1st has destroyed the company’s Falcon9 rocket and the $200 million AMOS-6 satellite owned by Space Communication company based in Israel during routine tests on the launch pad. The official investigations have revealed the cause of the incident to be an anomaly in how the oxygen and a carbon-composite helium container inside the rocked interacted.
The report is yet to be finished before the next SpaceX mission takes place early next year.
