Spirit Airlines to Match Your Status With Another Airline

News

StatusMatch.com has partnered with the airline to offer travelers who have 16 loyalty programs to hotels and airlines access to its Free Spirit program.

Spirit Airlines has just launched a new status matching program that allows travelers to access dozens of loyalty programs and receive perks such as free checked bags or seat selection.

StatusMatch.com has partnered up with the low-cost airline to offer travelers who have status with 16 loyalty programs at 16 hotels and 16 airlines access to its Free Spirit program. This is in contrast to other airlines that charge extra for these perks. This status match is valid for one year.

"Spirit offers convenient, nonstop routes for Guests who are regularly crisscrossing the country, and we're excited to offer road warriors the opportunity to continue enjoying the benefits they're accustomed to while flying Spirit," Rana Ghosh, vice president of omnichannel sales at Spirit Airlines, mentioned in a statement. "We're incredibly proud of our Free Spirit program, which offers Gold and Silver members a long list of perks on every flight."

Travelers who use the status matching program will have access to many perks. However, they must pay $49 for Free Spirit Silver status or $99 to get Free Spirit Gold status.

Silver status holders will be able to access faster security boarding and free seat selection at check in. Fee waivers are available for overweight bags. Gold status holders will enjoy all the benefits of silver, including a free carry on and checked bag, no seat selection fees at check-in, a complimentary drink or snack on board, as well as all the benefits of gold status.

Only travelers can apply to match their loyalty program status (if they are a Delta Silver member for example, they may apply for Spirit Silver status). All major US airlines, including Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, can match travelers.

Many airlines offer status matching which allows passengers to temporarily experience the differences in different airline loyalty programs.

Certain credit cards, such as the American Express Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve cards, offer perks that make travel more enjoyable, including lounge access.
