Terrorist Attack in the City of Diyarbakir, Turkey
A powerful explosion took place in the main bus terminal in the city of Diyarbakir, in southeastern Turkey, in the moment of the passage of an armored vehicle, said sources quoted by the Hurriyet newspaper. Four Turkish policemen were killed and at least 20 other people were injured, according to officials quoted by the Turkish media.
At least seven Turkish policemen were killed and at least 20 other people were injured in the attack committed Thursday afternoon in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir. The authorities attributed the attack to the separatist organization of Kurdistan Workers' Party, Turkish media reports.
The explosion occurred in Baglar district, nearby the main bus station, on the moment when there crossed a minibus in which there were members of special police forces, adds the source. According to AFP, that was citing the local authorities, the explosion was triggered by a remote detonation of a vehicle loaded with explosives.
The attack takes place the day before an official visit of the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in the city.
