The Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya Has Opened Its Doors To Guests
As part of its luxury & lifestyle line, IHG Hotels & Resorts recently revealed the launch of its fourth Japanese hotel, Hotel Indigo, in Tokyo.
Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya, co-developed by Pan Pacific International Holdings Corporation and located only blocks from the world-famous Shibuya Crossing, takes its design cues from the surrounding neighbourhood.
The Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya was inspired by the surrounding vibrant and diverse urban environment. The 12th floor lobby, themed as a "Kaleidosopic Urban Jungle," has dazzling fashion-led artworks embellished with denim and leather themes to pay homage to Shibuya's thriving fashion industry. The hotel's public spaces are decorated with linear elements inspired by Shibuya's famous and often captured Scramble Crossing.
The 272 rooms of this hotel pay tribute to Shibuya's music scene with a hand-picked collection of vinyl records in each room. Guests may also enjoy breathtaking views of Tokyo Skytree and Mount Fuji on a sunny day.
Gallery 11, the hotel's newest restaurant, captures the unique essence of Shibuya with art pieces that pay homage to the neighbourhood's emphasis on the arts and leisure culture. Gallery 11's dishes are a veritable gastronomic extravaganza, a mash-up of traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a modern Japanese touch, prepared with the finest local and seasonal produce.
Before venturing out to explore, shop, or get some work done, guests can stop by Shibrewya, the hotel's neighbourhood café, for a cup of hot roast coffee and waffles moulded like Hachiko, Shibuya's famous and beloved Akita dog, whose statue sits in the centre of the city.
Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is conveniently located near some of the best shopping centres and restaurants in all of Japan, as well as the world-famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing. World-renowned buildings and attractions, as well as interesting museums and green urban spaces, may all be found here.
The hotel's GM, Rebecca Thorn, commented with the occasion of the launch:“We are very proud to open the fourth Hotel Indigo in Japan, and the first in an urban setting. Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a celebration of one of the world’s most diverse, ever-evolving neighbourhoods. Our hotel brings to life Shibuya’s culture of art, fashion, music and design, and we can’t wait to share our stories. We are certain that our guests will discover new and exciting experiences in Shibuya.
”The first two hotels under the Hotel Indigo label to open in Japan were the Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora and Hotel Indigo Karuizawa in 2020 and 2022, respectively. At the same time, the Nagasaki Hotel launch is scheduled for the year 2024.
Hotel Indigo, one of the world's premier boutique lifestyle names, is a connection to some of the most uplifting communities, with 145 open and 128 pipeline hotels throughout the globe. Each Hotel Indigo takes cues for its inviting and trendy vibe from the area's history and culture as well as contemporary cuisine, drink, and design developments.
