The Upcoming Debut Of The New Brussels–Berlin Sleeper Train
The Upcoming Debut Of The New Brussels–Berlin Sleeper Train
The route will first link Brussels, Amsterdam, and Berlin, and then in 2024 it will be extended to Dresden and Prague as well.
Launching on Thursday, May 25 at 22:56 CET, the service will make stops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam before reaching Brussels at 9:27 CET the following morning. The return trip leaves Brussels at 19:22 and gets you to Berlin at 6:48 the next day. The following days of the week see departures from Berlin: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, whilst Brussels sees service on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
A second line, connecting Amsterdam and Barcelona, is also on the docket for introduction by the fledgling train firm in the year 2025. The project will be funded by the European Commission to strengthen and expand existing international train connections. Discounted tickets may be ordered through the company’s website starting 20 February.
There are three different 'comfort level' ticket options available. The most affordable tickets enable you to reserve a single seat in a cabin with up to five other passengers. The cost of a one-way ticket from Brussels to Berlin ranges from €79 in a shared section to €289 in a VIP area. Couchettes with six seats that transform into sleeping beds are available for booking for prices ranging from €109 to €399, and include bedding, breakfast, and use of a shared bathroom.
Guests travelling in groups of three may book a sleeper compartment (the deluxe ticket option) that includes a separate lounge area, made-up mattresses, a private wash basin, towels, amenities, and a "luxury" breakfast. You may order a single sleeper for €209, a double for €239, or a triple for €149, just like a couchette. Prices are for a one-way trip from Brussels to Berlin and cannot be combined with any other offers.
Moreover, couchette and sleeper compartments for women alone are provided at no additional cost, and dogs are welcome in individual sleeping quarters. You can't mix and match seats of different types or classes on the same ticket. Pricing is designed to be flexible and meet a variety of situations.
The cooperative train firm was established in 2021 by its founders, Elmer van Buuren and Chris Engelsman, after they had successfully obtained a seed capital investment of €500,000. With €2 million from a second round of funding in 2022, the firm was able to build an enthusiastic night train community.
