Titan Airways Enhances Airbus A321 for Exclusive Santa Excursions to Lapland
During this holiday travel period, the celebratory livery is observable at air terminals across the United Kingdom.
A substitute Airbus for the Polar Express on the tracks? In this festive season, Titan Airways executes chartered services representing Santa's Lapland, establishing connections between the United Kingdom and Ivalo Airport (IVL) within Finland's Arctic Circle.
In honor of this exceptionally unique service, the chartered aviation company has revamped one of its completely white Airbus A321-200s (G-POWU) with a festive livery. The procedure, carried out by Plane Creative at Titan Airways' hangar situated at London Stansted Airport (STN), took approximately 20 hours and incorporated seasonal adornments from the aircraft's nose to its tail.
The airplane is discernible at 15 regional air terminals throughout the UK throughout the Christmas season, encompassing London Gatwick Airport (LGW), Birmingham Airport (BHX), Edinburgh Airport (EDI), and Manchester Airport (MAN). G-POWU was recently observed departing from Bristol Airport (BRS) on December 12 as part of Santa's Lapland holiday packages facilitated by Hotelplan UK.
“This special journey will take you deep into the wilderness of Saariselka, 200 miles above the arctic circle where you’ll escape into a world of winter magic.”
Stretching over two to three nights, the venture presents families with a magical pre-Christmas encounter in "Santa's Lapland" at Saariselka, where youngsters can assist in locating Santa and savor the marvels of Finland's Arctic expanse.
An additional Titan Airways A321 will also manage specific routes, with Jet2's crew leading the way. For in-flight services, flight attendants are switching their customary uniforms for festive sweaters and hats, contributing to the overall experience.
Due to the confirmed snowfall and stunning landscapes, northern Finland has emerged as the primary choice for families seeking a glimpse of Christmas enchantment. Airports based in the Arctic, including Rovaniemi Airport (RVN), Kittila Airport (KTT), and Ivalo, witness a swift surge in seasonal and chartered services from late November onward, handling flights originating from various parts of Europe.
Notably, services have experienced a substantial surge post the pandemic, with carriers such as Iberia, KLM, and Ryanair supplementing a lengthy roster of flights to Lapland.
Given the fiercely competitive nature of this brief travel timeframe, airlines are fervently expanding services and striving to captivate travelers with seasonal goodwill. This year, the budget-friendly airline easyJet has stationed post-boxes at air terminals across the UK, Italy, and France for children to deposit letters to Santa regarding the airline's direct Rovaniemi-bound services. To heighten the magic, easyJet is providing a postal retrieval service for schools situated near its bases, with elf-like cabin crew members available to assist.
"We hope our Letters to Santa postal service will bring some extra magic to the thousands of families traveling with us around the holidays and to schools in our local airport communities.”
Finnair, the national carrier, maintains its position as the Official Airline of Santa Claus, a title it has held for four decades. The airline's iconic festive liveries have garnered popularity among holidaymakers and aviation enthusiasts alike, contributing to the continuous growth of tourism in Finland during the winter season.
