Hotels & Resorts

Travelodge's 2024 Travel Trend Report, based on a survey of 2,000 British adults, reveals key holiday travel trends, emphasizing the preference for staycations, sustainable travel, and the importance of location and value. The report coincides with Travelodge's offer of over one million rooms at £35 or less across the UK.

Today, Travelodge, a pioneer in the UK budget hotel sector, unveiled its latest Travel Report, exploring the nation's anticipated holiday travel patterns for 2024. This insight comes as Travelodge launches its inaugural room promotion of the year, offering over one million rooms across the UK at £35 or below, under the campaign "Better Get a Travelodge."

The 2024 Travel Trend Report, which surveyed 2,000 UK adults, identifies that a significant majority of Brits are planning to travel this year, with over 80% travelling for leisure. Notably, a third prefer to vacation within the UK, while about 40% intend to divide their time between domestic and international getaways. This trend underscores a growing inclination towards staycations amidst the cost of living concerns, with more than a fifth of respondents planning to allocate more funds to travel compared to 2023.

The report further explores the motivations behind the rising preference for staycations, with location emerging as the paramount consideration for approximately three-quarters of those surveyed. Value for money and sustainability also play critical roles in travel planning for 2024, with a notable willingness among over half of the participants, especially Gen Z, to invest more in eco-friendly travel options.

The desire to discover new destinations within the UK is strong, with half of the respondents eager to explore local holiday spots. Additionally, the importance of a restful sleep is highlighted, with over half of the participants deeming it essential when selecting holiday accommodations.

A Travelodge spokesperson commented, "Our 2024 Travel Trends Report shows that despite economic challenges, Brits are keen on travel, with a particular interest in exploring the UK, prioritizing location, value, sustainable choices, and quality rest. With our extensive network of over 580 hotels and a commitment to value, Travelodge is ideally positioned to accommodate UK travelers in 2024. Our ongoing brand transformation, including premium room upgrades and sustainable initiatives, ensures guests enjoy a comfortable stay focused on a good night's sleep with our Travelodge Dreamer™ bed."

Travelodge's multi-million-pound investment in hotel upgrades, including next-generation rooms and eco-friendly features, reaffirms its commitment to providing guests with a superior stay experience, emphasizing sustainability and comfort.
