Health screenings for Americans and other short-term visitors will end this week.
As Africa's newest Covid-free destination, Tunisia is now open for tourists and businesses, as the country does no longer require vaccination proof or testing for Covid.
Tunisia's Health Ministry reinstated pre-2020 admission regulations on December 1, after the country had restricted entries and required pre-travel immunizations to prevent variations from entering the country in 2020 and 2021.
The Ministry has confirmed that Covid is no longer disruptive, hence extremely severe restrictions are no longer needed. The decreasing number of cases in Tunisia encouraged it to follow Egypt’s and Morocco’s example in lifting restrictions.
The unvaccinated travellers are not discriminated against since the vaccination certificates are no longer required. Pre-departure testing has also been lifted. Airports, ports, and land crossings do not undertake post-arrival health screenings any more. Quarantine has also been eliminated. However, face masks are still required while indoors in order to prevent infections from spreading.
According to the Health Ministry, the current regulations will be regularly updated in accordance with the epidemiological evolution of the disease.
Tunisia is one of the cheapest Mediterranean destinations and North Africa's most culturally rich country, despite its Mediterranean vibe. The nation borders Algeria to the west and Libya to the south-east on Africa's North Coast. The Tunisian untouched landscape, including blue-water beaches and steep mountain tops, as well as the historic Roman legacy here make the country one of the most visited destinations in Africa for both local and international tourists.
