Universal Studios Hollywood Announces Opening Date for Super Nintendo World

An official opening date has been announced by Universal Studios Hollywood regarding the new Super Nintendo World

Super Nintendo World will be open at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 17, 2023.

Universal describes the U.S. debut as an "innovative and immersive" themed land. This land will be the largest expansion since 2016 when it added the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Guests will be welcomed by the land's green pipe entrance. Once inside, they will be "swept into the 360-degree world Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, where they will become an integral piece of their exhilarating universe." They will then encounter Peach's castle.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is a brand-new ride that will be the Land's flagship attraction. It "will seamlessly combine cutting-edge AR with projection mapping technology, actual set pieces, and actual ride tracks."

The "multi-sensory backdrop" of color, sound, and movement will set the scene for guests' "navigate familiar tracks through the creative integration of head-mounted AR goggles.

This is a first in the history of theme park attractions: Universal shares.

Interactive gameplay will play an important role in the land. This includes opportunities to punch famously "?" blocks and collects digital gold coins. Four key challenges will be offered to guests, where they will need to collect keys from Gooma and Koopa Troopa as well as Piranha Plant and Thwomp through interactive activities. This will "ultimately permit access to the final boss battle with Bowser Jr."

Universal shared the following: "These interactive, energetic and familiar games will enhance the whole kinetic experience in the land and immerse visitors into the unique world Super Mario."

A "Power-Up Band" is available to purchase to keep score and other information. The "wearable, state-of-the-art" wristband will be compatible with the Universal Studios Hollywood app. It is currently being used by Universal Studio Japan. Interactive elements of the band include the ability to keep score, both individually and collectively, as well as digital coins and keys for challenges. The band's guests will have exclusive interaction with Mario and Luigi.

The band will be available in six designs with different character themes and can be purchased at Super Nintendo World as well as other retail locations around the park and CityWalk.

Toadstool Cafe is the land's flagship restaurant. Here guests can enjoy a delicious menu of Nintendo-inspired food. The 1-UP Factory will be the land's retail shop, where guests can relive their experiences with collectible memorabilia.

Universal Studios Hollywood will include admission to Super Nintendo World. One-day tickets start at $109.
