
Walt Disney World Resort sets up beautiful Christmas decorations

29 "Icon Trees" ranging in height from 15 to 70 feet and 596 trees from 2 to 14 feet will charm the visitors during the holidays.
But the landscape is dominated by this 70 feet tall Christmas tree. This massive decorated tree can be seen at Disney's Contemporary Resort, has over 1,200 branches and weighs over 33,000 pounds. There are almost 200 illuminated, one-of-a-kind decorations and 16,000 lights on the tree.
If combining all the Christmas trees in the park, they have over 12,000 steel branches and weigh over 110 tonnes. In addition, over 15,000 extra-large ornaments and 260,000 lights are required to decorate all of those trees.
At Walt Disney World Resort, about 5,000 garlands adorn the resort's many trees and walls. They add up to over nine miles in length.
Among the more than 1,700 wreaths that are put up every year at Disney Parks and Resorts, there is one that is related to the Haunted Mansion's front entrance in Magic Kingdom Park and another that is five feet tall and hangs on the front side of Sunset Boulevard in Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Disney Springs has the most holiday decorations, with almost 2,000 trees, ribbons, ornaments, and other accents spread across the area.
More than ten thousand gingerbread shingles go into the construction of the life-size gingerbread home at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. More than 500 hours are spent preparing the sweets by Disney bakers, and another 480 hours are spent constructing and decorating the various sets.
The foyer of Disney's Beach Club Resort has a life-size gingerbread carousel. In honor of the 21 years, it has been in the hotel, astute visitors may discover 21 hidden Mickeys on it.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has a gingerbread giraffe that is seven feet tall, the same as a real baby giraffe. A new, life-size baby zebra is also shown this year.
In honor of Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary, the Contemporary Resort has put up a gingerbread Cinderella Castle that is 17 feet tall, and made up of over 4,000 gingerbread tiles. The goats on exhibit have been given five legs in honor of the monumental artwork that can be seen in the resort's Grand Canyon Concourse. The eleven goats stand for the eleven years that the castle has been on exhibit.
There's also a little BoardWalk Deli made of gingerbread in the Disney resort's gingerbread exhibit. Disney's pastry chefs spent 200 hours decorating the piece.
Walt Disney World Seasonal Services is in charge of all the holiday decorations and displays. There are 50 people that stay on with the company all year. Every year, the company brings in 90 seasonal cast members. Decorating for the holidays starts on Halloween and is finished by Thanksgiving.
More than 40,000 separate pieces of holiday decor are serviced, installed, and taken down each year by Holiday Services. In all, the crew decorates 780 spaces across 41 premises.
