New Tech Could Boost Customer Service On Flights

News

Does your airline keep tabs on how much alcohol you consume? These sensors could improve service quality.

Collins Aerospace's InteliSence system was recognized as one of the best at the Aircraft Cabin Interiors Expo, where it took home a Crystal Cabin Award. The new system allows flight attendants to be able to better cater to each passenger's individual needs thanks to the multitude of sensors installed throughout the plane.

A Collins executive suggested in a presentation that the system might track your drink selection and glass level so that flight attendants could bring you a refill without leaving their seats.

Collins Aerospace's vice president of cabin experience - interiors, Mark Vaughan, explained that InteliSence system can also monitor and communicate system health back to ground, giving operators the information they need to proactively minimize errors in a timely, efficient, and predictable manner. The system's capabilities may be expanded to accommodate emerging technologies and service requirements. Collins's VP also emphasized that passengers would be required to actively consent into having their behaviour monitored.

Other applications include facilitating the conversion of business class seats into beds and allowing flight crew members to better respond to individual customer needs.
