British Airways Arrives in Cincinnati

News

British Airways had an inaugural flight from London Heathrow Airport and it touched down at Cincinnati International Airport just a few days ago.

British Airways' inaugural flight from London Heathrow Airport, (LHR), touched down at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on June 5, 2023 just after 7:30 pm local time.

British Airways now serves the Ohio city as its 27th American destination, further advancing the United Kingdom flag airline's position of the largest overseas airline within the United States.

As the inaugural flight taxied up to stand, it was warmly welcomed. The departure gate served British themed refreshments and musicians and performers entertained departing passengers.

Central Cincinnati, straddling Ohio River, is spread out across southwestern Ohio and northern Kentucky. It also extends to portions of southern Indiana. British Airways is introducing its superior service in a new part of the United States. More than 11 million people live within a radius of 120 miles of Cincinnati's Airport.

"When we look at the Cincinnati region we see a vibrant part of the U.S. with a great mix of business and leisure travellers who have long asked for more international service and global connectivity, which is what made it so attractive to us and why we're confident this new route will be a success," mentioned Neil Chernoff, British Airways Director of Networks and Alliances. "Our incredibly positive and welcoming conversations with the airport team, the business development community and tourism partners - combined with all the region has to offer visitors from outside the U.S. - were a clear sign that Cincinnati was the right place to expand our flying in America."

Cincinnati customers can now enjoy a non-stop flight to London and its iconic attractions and landmarks. There's something to suit every type of traveler, from the well-known, like "Big Ben", Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace, to the hip, like Borough Market and Shoreditch. Cincinnati's business community benefits from the service provided to one of world's most important business centers.

British Airways also offers easy connections from Terminal 5 at London Heathrow to more than 200 destinations in over 65 countries, including flights with its partner airlines. British Airways is the only airline that connects Cincinnati with the world.

Candace McGraw (CEO of CVG Airport) said: "We are thrilled this day has come when CVG has non-stop service to and from London Heathrow. This flight offers tremendous growth opportunities for business travel, economic development, and tourism between the UK and our region. We are grateful to our partners in Ohio and Kentucky who have supported this flight that will benefit travellers for years to come. I offer a personal thanks to our new friends at British Airways for this opportunity."

British Airways passengers arriving in Cincinnati, where the airport received more than 6 million travellers in 2020, will find a city in the U.S. full of things to do. Cincinnati is home to many sports teams, performing art venues, museums, and parks. Over-the-Rhine, Covington and other unique neighborhoods offer a diverse mix of art galleries, restaurants, breweries and cocktail bars. A trip down Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, which extends southward into the central part of the state, offers visitors an American experience.

The service between Cincinnati and London will operate five times a week during the summer season, and four times a week during the winter season. British Airway will fly the new non-stop service using a variety of aircraft, including the Boeing 777 or Boeing 787. All aircraft that serve Cincinnati feature three cabins: Club World (business), World Traveller Plus, (premium economy), and World Traveller, (economy).
