Dubai – A Top Travel Destination

News

For the second year in a row, travellers have voted Dubai as their top pick for best city to visit throughout the world on Tripadvisor.

Dubai's unique magnetism has been recognised with a number of international awards, and the top Tripadvisor honour is the most recent addition to this list. After the release of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai and the onset of the famed fine-dining restaurant critique guide Gault&Millau in 2022, Dubai maintained its status as an international gastronomy hub, thanks to its abundance of restaurants and cafes offering a wide variety of cuisines. But the latest recognition helps Dubai move closer to its objective of being one of the top three tourist and business hubs in the world, as outlined in the newly unveiled Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

Dubai is continually adopting regulatory, infrastructural, and travel efforts to stay up with the ever-changing global tourism scene and attract even more tourists from all over the globe. The city's tourist momentum has accelerated further owing to the efforts of both domestic and foreign partners to promote it as a secure, welcoming, and user-friendly holiday spot.

The most recent numbers available from Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism show that the emirate received 12.82 million foreign overnight guests between January and November of 2022, an increase over the 6.02 million tourists that visited during the same time in 2021. Over the course of these 11 months, 794 hotels with a total of more than 145,098 guest rooms welcomed their first visitors, reporting an impressive occupancy rate of 73%.

“[…] Consolidating Dubai’s status as one of the world’s top three cities for tourism and business signifies the leadership’s determination to mark Dubai out as a clear leader not only as a leisure and lifestyle destination but also as a hub for connectivity, commerce and investment. Dubai’s diverse tourism attractions and hospitality offerings, combined with its emergence as a leading venue for global events and a magnet for talent and enterprise will continue to reinforce its status as a favourite among global travellers over the next decade. Dubai’s tourism, hospitality and events sectors have been at the forefront of a rebound and acceleration of global growth in these sectors over the last two years and will continue to play a key role in shaping their evolution in the future”, added Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
