Dublin Airport traffic jumps 11% in March

Airlines & Airports

Dublin Airport recorded strong passenger growth in March, with more than 2.9 million travellers passing through its terminals, an 11 percent increase compared with the same month last year.

Passenger volumes remained consistently high throughout the month, with 12 days exceeding 100,000 यात्रלers, more than double the number recorded in March 2025. The busiest day was March 15, when over 114,000 passengers travelled through the airport.

Demand was driven by a mix of business and leisure travel, with key events such as St Patrick’s Day, the Cheltenham Festival and Mother’s Day contributing to higher traffic. Additional demand came from Irish supporters travelling to Prague for an international football match.

The most popular routes included London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Manchester, London Gatwick and London Stansted, highlighting strong connectivity between Ireland and major European hubs.

Despite the growth, around 55,000 passengers were affected by disruptions linked to events in the Middle East, which led to the cancellation of 284 flights during the month.

March marked the twelfth consecutive month of passenger growth at Dublin Airport, following the temporary suspension of a passenger cap in April 2025. However, uncertainty remains as a final decision from European courts is still pending.

Airport operator daa said continued demand highlights the importance of resolving the cap issue, warning that uncertainty could limit future airline investment and the development of new long-haul routes, including potential connections to India and Brazil.

Looking ahead, Dublin Airport is preparing for a busy summer season, with infrastructure upgrades underway, including new lounge facilities and an expanded fast-track security offering in Terminal 1.
