Game of Thrones fans are expected to visit new set in Northern Ireland

News

Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Northern Ireland will be welcoming Game of Thrones fans for tours in one of the original filming locations featured in the series.

Actor Ian Beattie (Meryn Trant in GOT) commented for Reuters:

"These are the actual sets that we walked on. These are the actual costumes we wore, the swords we swung. And unlike the show, where you don't always see it, you will get to see the incredible detail that went into every aspect of the making of this show.

"There are a few sets, like Winterfell Hall, that were specifically here and haven't moved.”

The set has opened to the public on February 4. Game of Thrones Studio Tour invites visitors to discover The Seven Kingdoms in trips expected to boost travel revenue in NI.

Tour's general manager Brad Kelly declared for BBC News:

"This is a global TV phenomenon and we want to bring a global audience to Northern Ireland to get close to Game of Thrones.”

From authentic filming sets to original props, the Linen Mills Studio tours aim to offer tourists immersive experiences in what was one of the most acclaimed TV shows ever. Key action sets, like Braavos, Dorne, King’s Landing and Dragonfell will unveil the magic of the GOT series for fans all over the world.

According to official statements, the project is a partnership between Linen Mill Studios, HBO and Warner Media, and is the first of its kind for Warner.

Additional information can be viewed by following the official website of the project. Tickets can be purchased at gameofthronesstudiotour.com, as visits must be booked and paid for in advance.

Northern Island is home to no less than 25 GOT filming locations.
