Hotelplan UK has a new travel policy for staff
Explore Worldwide, Inntravel, Inghams, Esprit and Santa’s Lapland – all part of Hotelplan’s brands – have launched a new paid travel time policy for members of own staff opting for sustainable travel (such as railway, public transportation, walking or cycling) instead of air travel or driving, as new research indicated that 67% of people would prefer to choose more sustainable travel if given the chance.
With the latest company policy, staff can claim a half-day travel time when going 150 to 450 miles each way and a full day for distances that exceed 450 miles.
Prue Stone, head of sustainability at Hotelplan UK, declared:
"We are delighted to offer all our staff in the UK this forward-thinking policy. We know our staff are committed to sustainability, but that sometimes time and financial demands can make the right decisions more different.
"We hope that by encouraging slower travel, and allowing additional time to do so, people feel supported in putting their values first."
"We want to lead by example. Both within the business, with senior leaders travelling more sustainably for business and pleasure, and within the industry, showing how it is possible to encourage lower-carbon choices."
When it comes to business travel, Hotelplan’s recommendation for staff focuses on video conferencing replacing physical meetings and use of public transport or trains, in order to diminish carbon footprint while closing deals. The same goes for leisure travel. As for regular office commute, the company offers its employees the possibility of flexible, hybrid work, secure cycle storage, showers at the Hampshire HQ, ticket loans and the cycle-to-work initiative as the part of the same project encouraging sustainability.
