Independence Day 2017 – intensive travel for Americans
According to AAA auto club forecast, more than 44 million people will travel for this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
With a year-to-year increase of 3 per cent, translating into more than 1 million extra travelers every 4th of July, the AAA forecast predicts the figures will reach an all-times record this year.
“Combined, strong employment, rising incomes and higher consumer confidence bode well for the travel industry, in particular this Independence Day weekend,” declared Bill Sutherland, VP at AAA Travel and Publishing.
Additionally, low gas prices, convenient rental rates and lower airfares will contribute to this year’s expected travelers increase, as 3.44 million passengers will board on different domestic routes in order to spend the 4th of July holiday. High travel volume is also expected on cruises, trains and buses for a total of 3.27 million travelers.
The only sector that did not registered price range fluctuations is hospitality, with an average price of $185/night.
Also according to the AAA report, the most popular hot-spots this year will be:
1. Orlando, Florida
2. Vancouver, Canada
3. Cancun, Mexico
4. Seattle, Washington
5. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
6. Honolulu, Hawaii
7. Anaheim, California
8. Anchorage, Alaska
9. Las Vegas, Nevada
10. Montego Bay, Jamaica
“This Independence Day will be historic. Traveler numbers are up and prices are down, adding to what has already been a bustling summer travel season,” concluded Vicky Evans, Assistant Vice President at The Auto Club Group.
